About Lauren J. Hellkamp, LICSW, PMH-C

Lauren J. Hellkamp, LICSW

I believe that everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their lives. Therapy doesn’t always have to take place because of major life events, it can also be helpful for those daily struggles that are getting in the way of being the best version of ourselves.

I work with adults and teens who are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, navigating postpartum and parenting challenges, going through major life transitions, or just struggling with general life stress.

In our work together, my focus is to help you:

  • Better understand what you’re feeling and why
  • Develop practical tools to manage anxiety and overwhelm
  • Feel more confident navigating difficult situations
  • Reconnect with yourself during times of change

My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in real-life strategies you can actually use outside of sessions.

What It’s Like to Work With Me

Therapy with me is a space where you never have to filter what you’re thinking or feeling. You can expect a supportive, non-judgmental environment, conversations that feel natural and not overly clinical, a balance of listening and offering tools or feedback, and a pace that feels comfortable to you. My goal is not just to help you feel better in the moment, but to help you build skills that continue to support you long after therapy ends.

Education

I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Psychology at Roger Williams University, then went on to Bridgewater State University, where I received my Master of Social Work in 2010. I have worked for over 15 years as a therapist, and I have experience in both inpatient hospital settings along with outpatient settings. I also specialize in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and have attended multiple trainings and achieved additional licensing as a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional (PMH-C).

These experiences have provided me with a deeper understanding of a wide range of mental health issues that have led me to my current work in private practice. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, so while I typically utilize cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based interventions, I always modify because I believe in providing personalized treatment that will work best for each individual.
